“When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.”
― Robert Frank
Hi, I'm Amber, owner/photographer of Shades of Amber Studios. It's nice to meet you! I currently live in Beaver Falls, Pa with my husband, Cody, our 3 cats, and 2 guinea pigs! Aside from photography, I love all things art, specifically drawing and painting. I love to crochet, and I love plants. Some day I want to have a GIANT vegetable/herb garden and grow the majority of our own food. This garden, of course will be on my homestead with my honeybees, chickens, cows and goats!
I've always had a passion for photography. From a disposable camera on my 6th grade trip to Washington D.C., my little point-and-shoot camera that I took everywhere with me, the tens of thousands of pictures saved on my Ipod Touch, I've always loved capturing the moment. I loved to look back at old photos and reminisce about what was going on when that picture was taken. Whether it was playing in the leaves with my siblings, or at an old JCPenny Studio with every single member of my family squished in tight, it's special to have those memories captured in time
I started Shades of Amber Studios in 2021. At the time I was going to school online at Southern New Hampshire University for my BA in Graphic Design & Media Arts. (I also have an AS in Marketing, also from SNHU.) For an assignment, we had to create a fictional graphic design company. I thought "Shades of Amber" was a really clever play on my name. I really loved the idea of having my own graphic design studio, so I looked more into the idea of creating a business and in November 2021, I officially had an LLC!!
Shades of Amber Studios started off as a graphic design studio, before I even had my degree in Graphic Design, I was very eager. However, while I was still in college, I took a few photography classes, so I needed to buy a camera. Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, I absolutely fell in LOVE with photography! The more photography I did, the more I loved it!
While I don't focus specifically on graphic design anymore, I still get the opportunity to use my graphic design skills with my photography edits! I don't have one particular style of edits, I have many! Depending on what my clients vision is depends on my editing style. I focus mostly on portraits, fantasy portraits (think cosplay, dressing up for a Ren Faire, ect), boudoir, and wedding/event photography. There are lots of exciting new things coming to Shades of Amber Studios in the coming year that I can't wait to share with everyone! If you've read all the way to the end of this blog post, then thank you for supporting me and my small business!
